Emergency Preparedness

Orangecrest Ward Emergency Plan

Each household will be responsible to implement “The Power of 3” in their respective homes. A copy of “The Power of 3” is located below.

In the event of a catastrophic disaster each household is responsible for their immediate needs. If cell service is available each household is to report to their respective ministering brother or sister. These reports will then be transmitted to the Elders Quorum Presidency and Relief Society Presidency and then to the Bishopric.

If all communication is non-operational an able representative of each household will report to the Orangecrest Fire Station #11 on Orange Terrace Pkwy. and Silk Oak Dr. There will be either another ward member there or a sign-in sheet. If you are the first person there, start the sign-in sheet. Information required is: name, address, number of souls in the home, physical status of the structure of the home, if you are going to relocate; where will you be, number of injured and status of injuries, requests for help. There will be a bishopric member or Elders Quorum Presidency member at the fire station at the top of the hour each hour to transmit the status of the sign-in sheet to the Stake via ham radio. Additionally, after 3 hours, at the top of the hour, teams will be deployed to check the status of member households in the following priority. Reported life threatening status to a household that has check in, unreported elderly member households, unreported single sister households. Teams will be prioritized and deployed based upon current conditions that exist during the disaster.

Note: the ward clerk will print a copy of the ward list each quarter for each member of the Bishopric, Elders Quorum Presidency, Relief Society Presidency to use as a master list during a disaster event.
